ABSTRACT
When creating abstract photography my intent is to avoid symbolic representation, rejecting the notion that a photograph must depict a direct subject. I focus on the process of the images creation. In some instances you will see an alternative technique I have stumbled on by moving the camera in order to create specific patterns that collaborate with the movement of light.
ANIMALS
I have always been curious in the behavior and movement of capturing animals in their natural setting. This art form is a meticulous approach to photography that allows me to connect with a variety of species in wildlife. I find animals to be the most fascinating to photograph because of the unpredictability.
PEOPLE
Portraits are by far my favorite type of photography. I love people and taking photos a way of capturing a glimpse into a person's being. Finding a way to connect for just a moment in time and to remember what it was like at that exact minute in that person’s life. I make sure to establish a relationship with all of my subjects in order to make a clear connection for the viewer. We are constantly moving and with portraiture I am able to focus on stillness.
PLACES
Journey is beautiful and I make sure to find a way to remember how remarkable it is. Capturing places through photography is my way to mark where I have been. It is my chance to self reflect on the places I have traveled and inspires me on where I want to go. The lens allows me to capture and preserve experiences that I couldn't receive in any other way.
NATURE
When photographing nature I enjoy taking a slightly non traditional approach. Patterns and textures entice me. I search for ambiguity and choose to focus on shape relationships. I also hunt for interesting color arrangements and capture how they relate. It is my preference to look for beauty in corners and cracks that might be overlooked in a full frame landscapes.
EXPERIMENTAL PORTRAITURE
My main goal is to invoke curiosity. This photography combines two specific techniques. It mixes the vision of capture along with post creativity. It is two parts that have to work harmoniously. I always try to find ways to explore my creativity with photography. Experimenting with various shutter speeds and using natural light is what made me interested in photography when I first started as a teenager.
