PACKAGING / GRAPHIC DESIGN

My ongoing freelance work was for the General Pencil Company. General's is a family owned art supply manufacturing company based in Redwood City. I have enjoyed collaborating with this company because of their traditions and dedication to their own core values. Their products are of the highest quality, made in the USA. I was able to work directly with the CEO. She helped me to understand the brand, their hands-on approach and their core values. With my time at General Pencil Company I designed multiple four-page brochures, posters, and packaging.

PACKAGING AND BOOK DESIGN

Coordinating directly with General Pencil Company's CEO and featured resident artist Kathi Hanson, I designed the packaging as well as a thirty-six page book for their Learn to Draw and Paint® with Watercolor Pencils set. This kit is featured in Michael's, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, and small art supply stores nation wide. The design of this packaging brings out the complimentary colors of the artwork that can be created in the kit.

INSTRUCTIONAL BROCHURE DESIGN

The following works are instructional brochures for General Pencil that covered four different medias including charcoal, graphite, watercolor, and pastel. The content is used nation wide to inform teachers about specific tips and techniques to inspire students. I worked directly with the artist to develop and design these publications. Color choice and style was created to coordinate with the packaging design of the respective products.

TRADE SHOW PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS DESIGN

In addition to posters and brochures I also created a variety of print materials for various trade show and demonstration needs for General Pencil. Pictured below is a "what's new" newsletter Kathi Hanson and I put together.
